Frequently Asked Questions

Below you will find a compilation of the most common questions I’ve been asked about coaching and the services I provide. If you still have questions after reading through the FAQs, please send me a message.

What is coaching?

Coaching is a process where a coach supports a coachee to make a change, learn something new or achieve goals. This process happens through conversation, and can take place face-to-face, over the phone, or online.

The ultimate aim is to help the coachee make progress in a certain area of their life, at work or to overcome a problem they’re struggling with

Is coaching the same as therapy and counselling?

Coaching and therapy/counselling are not the same. Coaching focuses on the 'present and now' whereas therapy delves into the past. Coaches and therapists/counsellors have different trainings and qualifications.

Coaching may not be suitable for people with serious suicidal thoughts and severe mental and developmental disorders.

During the free discovery call that I offer, we will discuss your challenges and assess whether coaching is suitable for you. I do not work with clients who I believe would be better served by a counsellor.

Do you work with people with mental health disabilities?

Chronic illness, pain and disability is often accompanied by a level of distress. There may be some low level depression and anxieties, which are within my scope of practice.

However, I cannot diagnose nor treat individuals with mental health illnesses such as bipolar disorder, OCD or schizophrenia. A counsellor would be more helpful here.

During the free discovery call that I offer, we will discuss your challenges and assess whether coaching is right for you.

Do you work with clients outside the UK?

Yes I do. I work online and can adjust to different time zones to a reasonable degree.

Can I have a chat with you before committing to coaching?

Absolutely! I offer a 30 mins free discovery call so we can discuss your challenges and see if we are a good fit.

How do I book a coaching session?

Email me using the contact form on the website 'prices and packages' and I will be in touch with you asap.

Are the sessions confidential?

Our sessions and whatever you share with me is completely confidential. You will learn more in my confidentiality policy. Send me a message with any concerns!

Do you see clients face to face?

No. I am currently only seeing clients virtually using Zoom. This allows me to work odd hours with clients worldwide. It also makes it easier for me to work around my own health challenges.

Will you tell me what to do during our coaching session?

Absolutely not! Consider this metaphor:

You are at the helm of the boat and it's your role to steer the boat in the direction you wish to. The coach is like a lighthouse illuminating the darkness so you can make a considered choice regarding which direction to take.

What happens during a coaching session?

A coaching session is quite focused and we will attempt to help you navigate your challenges though the use of powerful questions, providing strategies and motivation and exercises. The exercises are quite varied (online questionnaires, role-play, breathing and grounding exercises etc).

Will you guide me regarding which diet, exercise or medical tests I need?

No this is not my role and neither am I qualified to do this.
If you have been provided with a specific diet or exercise protocol by a qualified professional, I can provide strategies to help you implement them, motivate you to maintain the changes and hold you accountable which can make the whole process easier and less stressful.

Can I get rid of my illness, pain and symptoms through coaching?

This is a tricky question. The simple answer is NO.
However, also consider that stress and lifestyle can impact on one's health and illness. Through coaching, you will have a better handle on the stress in your life. You will be in a better place to implement and maintain the desired lifestyle changes which can have a positive impact on your health.

Can you cure me?

I wish I could, but my coaching will not cure you.

What if I feel unwell and can't attend a session?

Chronic illness and pain can be unpredictable and I understand if a client needs to cancel a session at the last minute.

I require atleast a 2hr cancellation notice before the session start time.

There is no refund for a cancellation with prior notice but the session can be rescheduled.

What is your refund policy?

My refund policy is non-negotiable.

I do not offer refunds after a session has been completed.

If a 6 sessions package has been booked and paid upfront, I will offer an 80% refund on the remaining sessions if the client decides not to complete all 6 sessions.

You will be given more details before you commit to coaching and we can discuss any of your questions/concerns then.

What if I can't afford the coaching fees?

Chronic illness, pain and disability can have a negative impact on an individual's finances, a fact which I am acutely aware of.

Consider the following options:

1) Booking 6 sessions upfront which brings down the fees

2) Joining group coaching which is the most cost-effective option.

I am open to discussion if you are unable to work and receiving PIP (personal independence payments). I do offer substantially reduced fees to certain clients. Please get in touch to discuss.

I cannot commit to coaching for now. What are my options?

There are always options!!

1) Join my free facebook group: 'Unapologetic women collective- women with chronic illness/pain and disability'

2) Subscribe to my free monthly newsletter for strategies for living a fulfilling life with chronic illness, pain and disability.
